Core Values

The Gospel

The Gospel is the good news of the person and work of Jesus Christ. At FMC the person of Jesus and what He accomplished is at the foundation of who we are. We believe that if we are going to accomplish our purpose, Jesus must be at the center of everything we do, both as a church and as individual Christians. It is for this reason that we chose to connect all of our values to the person and work of Jesus.

  1. Gospel-Fueled Prayer

Every time we pray, something changes

Because of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, He has brought us into the family of God. Just as an earthly father is eager to hear and give to his children, so too is God eager to provide for His children. Knowing this, fuels us to come to God in prayer because He is able and willing to hear us.

  1. Gospel-Rooted Families

Passing on the faith to the next generation

It is our desire that all of our families be rooted in the Gospel. Just as a tree receives its nutrients and the ability to mature through its roots, so too our marriages and relationships with our children must be rooted in the Gospel to grow and be healthy.

  1. Gospel-Motivated Mission

Making Jesus famous in our community

Our mission in this life is to make Jesus famous wherever we are. What Jesus has done for us compels us to tell of His glory to the people around us. Through seeing the Gospel more clearly, we are drawn to fulfill the mission Jesus has given to us.

  1. Gospel-Centered Community

Living together in Christ

The community of Christ’s people ought to interact with one another in a way that is shaped by the Gospel. Jesus desires that we hold our common faith in Him at the center of our relationships. As we do so, the world sees the power of the Gospel as it unifies a diverse people.

  1. Gospel-Driven Discipleship

Making disciples who make disciples

Our discipleship is driven by the goal of making new disciples. Our mandate is to be and make disciples who in turn go and make more disciples. This is the kind of discipleship that Jesus modeled and calls His church to take up.

  1. Gospel-Empowered Faith

Following Jesus requires radical obedience

Jesus requires that we strive for obedience to Him in every area of life. As we look to Jesus, we see an example of perfect obedience. Not only is He a perfect example, but He   is the one who empowers our faith to live in submission to God.

  1. Gospel-Focused Teaching

God’s word transforms lives

God’s word is powerful. Not only because it is completely authoritative, but because it contains the transforming message of the Gospel. The whole Bible is pointing us to a single person—Jesus. When we study Scripture with this understanding, it has the power to transform our lives.
