A Call to Prayer and Fasting

An important election is coming up for Ohio. On Tuesday, November 7th, Ohioans will vote on a constitutional amendment that would permanently legalize abortion up to birth—including gruesome partial-birth abortion, remove parental consent for minors to receive abortions, outlaw hospital health and safety standards, and more (Center for Christian Virtue). One other concerning piece to this amendment change proposal is reproductive decisions (gender transitioning, sterilization, etc.) could be made by anyone, at any age without parental consent.
At Fairlawn Church, we believe that every time we pray, something changes. The common theme of praying and fasting in the Bible makes it clear these are important disciplines for Christ-followers. You are invited to join a corporate time of praying and fasting on Thursday mornings starting October 5, for 5 weeks. We will pray and have a time of worship from 9:30am-10:30am. Each week there will be a prayer focus pertaining to abortion and gender identity.
This will look different for each person. You can come in person and pray with a group of us at Fairlawn Church or set a reminder/alert on your phone to pray wherever you are at that time. You may choose to fast the whole day or part of the day. The details are between you and God. The invitation is for all Christ-followers.

Weekly Prayer Focus:
• October 5- for conviction of sin, repentance, and healing for women who have had an abortion
• October 12- for people who are struggling with their biological bodies to find clarity in the truth of God’s word and for Christ- followers to come alongside them and love them
• October 19- for women who are considering or planning to have an abortion- that the Holy Spirit would intervene and make them aware of the sin they are tempted with and lead them to true help in their time of need
• October 26- for kids who feel pressured to change their biological bodies- that no schemes of the evil one would prevail in their lives and believers would come alongside them and speak truth & encouragement to their lives
• November 2- for Ohioans to use wisdom and discernment in voting, for hearts to be soft and truth to be acted upon. Pray against confusion and deception with this amendment.
